Slick Ryan of Slick Ryan’s Detective Agency scours the Montana Actors’ Theatre costume shop for any clues to the whereabouts and identity of the mystery thief.

Some historical Havre figures seem to be messing with Havre’s acting troupe.

Montana Actors’ Theatre posted on Facebook last the end of January that someone had broken into its costumes shop, and legendary cowboy, rodeo-er, lawman and convicted rustler “Long George” Francis was one among the figures who was spotted and is a suspect.

MAT has employed the services of a new flatfoot to help – Slick Ryan’s Detective Agency.

The investigation will culminate in Long George’s Speakeasy Night, set for Saturday, Feb. 22, from 7 to 10 p.m.

“We are basing the whole night around the character Long George Francis,” MAT’s Executive Director Jay Pyette said.

Long George’s Speakeasy will also be at a hidden location, but people interested can find out more clues from vendors and sponsors of the night.

People will have to use a password to get in, and a different password is needed for each hour, although once someone is in, they are there for the night, if they wish.

People who would like more information on the event can call Slick Ryan’s Detective Agency at 945-0272.

The event includes a 1920’s casino theme with music, hors d’oeuvres, gambling, burlesque dancers and more.

“All in all it is just going to be a really fun night, something different,” Pyette said.
