The Montana Actors’ Theatre believes that artistic and creative experiences for youth are essential to the health and vitality of our community. For the past 20+ years, thousands of children in Havre and along the Hi-Line have participated in our youth programs.

Summer KidsMAT Sessions
KidsMAT summer camps are a unique performing arts experience for children ages 6-13. This year, we are partnering with the HELP Committee of the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-line to bring a new outlook to our program which will use theatre and creative expression to help support substance misuse prevention. Youth will explore through the Boy & Girls Clubs of America evidence-based program Smart Moves, a targeted program designed to help young people develop healthy decision-making attitudes and skills, along with emotional identification, emotional regulation, and positive mental health. Youth will also explore storytelling, performance, and creative collaboration, in a theatre environment complete with a performance! This approach will help youth build identity, confidence, self-worth, and the skills to manage emotions as well as theatre, and acting skills. And have some plain old fun!

Exploring Storytelling: A KidsMAT Workshop
Exploring Storytelling is an engaging youth workshop series that invites young people to discover the power of theatre as a tool for self-expression, creativity, and connection. Through interactive games, improvisation, character development, and scene creation, participants will learn how stories come to life on stage — from the first spark of an idea to a fully realized performance.
Designed for all experience levels, this series encourages imagination while building essential theatre skills such as voice, movement, collaboration, and confidence.
