The Montana Actors’ Theatre believes that artistic and creative experiences for youth are essential to the health and vitality of our community. For the past 20+ years, thousands of children in Havre and along the Hi-Line have participated in our youth programs.

For the past several summers, MAT has hired college students or recent college graduates as paid interns in our Young Professionals Program. These young adults manage and direct the KidsMAT touring children’s camps and the Youth Production. Interns gain valuable practical experience, professional development, and artistic opportunity. This year we are also hiring high school age assistants.

2022 Applications are due April 10, 2022

KidsMAT is a summer-time educational performing arts camp for children grades K-8 in which participants learn in an environment that encourages creative growth through theatre performance, management, and production. KidsMAT takes theatre camp to a new level by encouraging kids to take part in every aspect of the creative process. Through collaboration and guidance, the kids develop the story, create the costumes, build the set, and perform the play. Camps available in Havre, Chinook, Shelby, and Rocky Boy.

The Youth Production provides middle and high school-aged students the opportunity to participate in fully-staged productions.  Participants learn every aspect of theatrical production and develop the discipline to create a polished, professional show.

The 2022 Youth Production will be Happily Ever Before!

Prosthetics and Makeup

This 2 week workshop may leave you unrecognizable! Maybe a new nose, maybe you will age 30 years, maybe you will become a whole new species, let’s get together and find out. Makeup and prosthetics can change anyone into an unrecognizable character. Theatre would not be able to suspend disbelief as well as it does without this amazing art form. This month we will learn all about techniques and processes of applying makeup and facial prosthetics, We will also learn casting, molding, sculpting and painting, so that you can create your own prosthetics. Thus creating skills that you can take home and continue to hone as you become a master of disguise. At the close of this course month we will have a disguise line up for the public to behold and vote on who is the most unrecognizable.

Meeting dates:

May 16, 18, 23, 25 and possibly 30th.
