Now in its fifth installment, this tribute concert series returns with a celebration of one of the most influential musical communities of all time. After four acclaimed events honoring icons and eras that shaped popular music, Voices from the Canyon carries the torch forward—this time to the winding roads and shared backyards of Laurel Canyon.
Previous tributes have explored legendary ground: The Last Best Waltz, honoring the music of The Band; Highway2Men, celebrating The Highwaymen; Women of Rock, spotlighting the power and legacy of women such as Heart, Alanis Morissette, and Tina Turner; and The Concert That Never Was, a bold journey through the music of David Bowie, his influences, and the artists he inspired. Each concert has paid homage not just to songs, but to the moments, movements, and musicians that changed the cultural landscape.
For this fifth tribute, the series turns its focus to Laurel Canyon, the unlikely hillside neighborhood that became a creative epicenter in the 1960s and ’70s. Voices from the Canyon features music by artists such as The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young), Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Eagles, Jackson Browne, and Carole King—artists whose harmonies, honesty, and songwriting helped define a generation.
Performed live by musicians who revere this material, Voices from the Canyon is both a milestone for the tribute series and a love letter to an era when collaboration was currency and songs felt like shared secrets. Five concerts in, the mission remains the same: honor the music that still echoes long after the last note fades.

The Government Inspector is set in a remote, provincial Russian town in the 1830s. The town’s mayor assembles other local officials in his home and announces that an incognito government inspector from St. Petersburg is coming with “secret instructions” to investigate them. The mayor frantically warns the officials to hide evidence of their maladministration before the inspector arrives. The mayor, judge, Warden of Charities, Inspector of Schools, postmaster, and Chief of Police are all guilty of neglecting their duties and abusing their power, so they’re desperate not to get caught. The landowners Bobchinsky and Dobchinsky rush in with dreadful news. Earlier, at the inn, they saw a young government official from St. Petersburg named Khlestakov. They claim that Khlestakov must be the inspector. Having learned that Khlestakov has already been in town for two weeks, the panicked mayor hastily sends the officials away to clean up the town. Then the mayor prepares to meet Khlestakov at the inn, bringing his scratched sword with him and anxiously praying that he won’t be in trouble for his sins.

The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be “Out There,” observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful Romani woman, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the Roma – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.
